Yesterday I drove past a man on the side of the road. He was sixty or seventy years old, wearing nice pants, a shirt and a tie. He was holding a sign that read, “Help! I need a job.”
You could see he was tired, hurting and embarrassed. He had run out of options for help. This was it. All he had left was to hope in the compassion of people he didn’t even know.
We are living in a time when like never before we need to be aware of the needs around us, and do whatever we can to help. So many people are hurting, we can’t help them all by ourselves. But we all can help someone.
I couldn’t help that man on the street. He wasn’t looking for a hand out, he needed a job. I didn’t have one to give. It broke my heart.
I might not have been able to help him, but I can help someone. I just need to be willing to open my eyes and make myself aware of need.
You want to change the world? Here’s are two things that can help. AWARENESS and ACTION.
FIND A NEED. TOUCH THE NEED. CHANGE THE WORLD.

Today I witnessed one person completely demeaning another person in front of her children, simply because the first person THOUGHT she was better than the second. It literally made my stomach churn. Do you know what the second person did? She looked up, smiled, and said “Thank you, have a great night.” And she was completely sincere.
It reminded me of a quote I posted last year, so I decided to re-blog it. I hope I will learn to react like that.
Tomorrow, be aware of those around you. Look for one single opportunity to better the circumstances of someone else. Buy someone a cup of coffee. Give a stranger a compliment. Ask someone how they are doing and really listen to their response.
Think about the one thing that someone could do for you that would make your day, your week or your year… and then do that for someone else.
What kind of impact would that make if you did that EVERY SINGLE DAY? What kind of impact would it make it EVERY SINGLE PERSON did that EVERY SINGLE DAY?
The world really can be a better place, we just need to be willing to put in the time.
Don’t keep this challenge a secret. Send it to your friends. Reblog it. Let them take part in changing the world one act at a time.
